MARDS now faces with vigor fresh challenges in the new millennium to continue its standard of excellence in serving children, parents and caregivers. It is important that services remain affordable while being delivered by capable, caring professionals. The process of meeting these challenges and planning for the future is formalized by the Board of Directors at the annual board/staff planning retreat.

Board Mission and Composition

MARDS is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is morally and legally responsible for exercising the powers and privileges of the corporation subject to the terms of the articles of incorporation, bylaws and policies. The MARDS Board of Directors is comprised of parents and area professionals including financial advisors, educators, attorneys, faith leaders, and professional athletes. The Board makes all decisions related to policy governing MARDS and is its chief fund raising body, creating new revenue streams from direct mail appeals, personal contacts and special events.
